La Reencarnación del material.
Buena parte de mi obra personal en los últimos años la he hecho con deshechos de todo tipo; los recojo en mis caminatas por el campo, en contenedores y me los recogen y regalan amigos que saben que para mí son tesoros. Es un lujo y una alegría contar con estos “proveedores”, que se involucran también luego emocionalmente en la transformación de esos trozos de cartón, latas, plástico… en objetos que dan un nuevo significado a esos pedazos de “nada” que de otro modo irían directamente a la basura.
Me emociona volver a dar vida a estos materiales. Busco encontrarles un nueva lectura dentro de un nuevo contexto pero a la vez dejar ver de algún modo, qué pudieron haber sido en su pasada existencia. Así, por ejemplo, un pedazo de lo que quizás fue material de embalaje industrial se convierte en mi “Libro de Canciones de Amor”
Recojo material que me sugiere algo nuevo. A veces me toma un tiempo encontrarle una segunda vida. Lo tengo por ahí y juego con el. Normalmente estoy casi siempre investigando nuevas técnicas para poder hacer cosas que nunca he hecho antes, con materiales con los que muchas veces tampoco he trabajado antes y de maneras nuevas. Me divierte ese proceso de ir descubriendo distintas posibilidades de la materia, que es a la vez una experiencia que me va descubriendo nuevos aspectos de mi misma. Usar deshechos como material se convierte también en una reflexión de la vida efímera de las cosas y de la cantidad de basura que producimos a gran velocidad.

Found, Played With and Upcycled
A good part of my personal work in the last years has been done using discarded material of all kinds; I pick it up on my walks in the countryside and from containers. My friends also bring me these materials, which they know to be treasures for me. It is a special privilege and makes me happy to have these “suppliers”, who get involved emotionally in the transformation of strips of cardboard, tins, plastic bits … into objects that give new significance to these pieces of “nothing” that would otherwise go directly into the garbage.
It gives me pleasure to give new life to these materials. I look for novel ways to see them in a new context, while suggesting what they could have been in their past lives. For instance, a discarded piece of industrial packing material turns into my “Book of Love Songs”.
I collect used materials that suggest something new. Sometimes it takes time to find them a second life. I keep them and play around with ideas for them. Normally, I experiment with new techniques in order to make things that I have never made before, with materials that I haven’t used before and in ways I have never tried.
I enjoy this process of discovering new possibilities of the material and discovering new aspects about myself. For me, using discarded bits of trash as my medium also becomes a reflection of the ephemeral life of the materials. It highlights the quantity of garbage we produce and the speed at which we produce it.
